Departure is from the domestic side of Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos. You land at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, the main gateway to Nigeria's South-East and the airport most used by travellers heading to Enugu, Nsukka and the surrounding towns. The airport is close to Enugu city, so the transfer is short — a straightforward arrival compared with airports like Port Harcourt that sit well outside the city they serve.

Flight times and daily schedule

This is one of the shorter domestic sectors in Nigeria, and flight time is genuinely brief. Departures run from morning through to the evening, with the strongest demand on Friday and Sunday as people travel for the weekend. Mid-week departures are quieter and cheaper. Getting to the airport

The Lagos end is the constraint, as always: allow up to two hours to reach Ikeja during peak traffic, and more in the rainy season. Enugu is easy in both directions, with a short run between the airport and the city. If you are travelling on to Nsukka, Abakaliki or further into the South-East, factor in the onward road journey, which can add a couple of hours.

If you are travelling home for Christmas, book as far ahead as you reasonably can; leaving it to late November is usually already expensive.
